Wendelien Daan is a fashion photographer working at home and abroad. Through the use of light and situations, she manages to create a unique and vaguely disturbing atmosphere in all her images, making you wonder what you are looking at. In her photos she observes her subject in an alienating and surreal way. She enhances the beauty of her subjects in a way that embraces and emphasizes these imperfections. Through light and composition she creates shapes that transform body parts into something unexpected.
In this way she comments on the image of today's woman. Recurring themes in her work are identity, equality, surrealism and alienation.
