Gerald Joseph 'Gerry' Mulligan (New York, April 6, 1927 – Darien, January 20, 1996) was an American jazz saxophonist, clarinetist, composer, and arranger. He is considered one of the leading baritone saxophonists in jazz history, particularly from the cool jazz era.

Vincent Mentzel worked as a staff photographer for NRC Handelsblad since the early 1970s and, during that time, became one of the best-known Dutch photojournalists. As a staff photographer, he shaped the face of the newspaper for a long time. He initially distinguished himself as a parliamentary photographer, later producing major (international) reports, and was closely involved with the photo editorial staff of M Magazine. After abandoning his studies at the Rotterdam Art Academy, Mentzel received his practical training between 1967 and 1969 as an assistant to Amsterdam theater photographer Maria Austria.

From her, he learned primarily about darkroom printing. His early photographs are characterized by a narrow perspective, created by heavily pressed skies and environments. His later work is lighter and less compelling. At the end of the 1960s, he worked as a freelance photojournalist from Rotterdam, providing press photos taken from unusual vantage points with a wide-angle lens for various newspapers. He soon landed a contract with NRC Handelsblad.

His breakthrough came when he began following the political scene in The Hague daily. Mentzel approached the genre in a calm, well-informed manner and maintained close relationships with politicians, allowing him to photograph them behind the scenes. His approach was widely imitated and changed the character of parliamentary photography.
