"This is a sketch for my project on weightlessness that ultimately resulted in the film installation ALMOST THERE on display at UNBOUND, the curated exhibition during UNSEEN 2023. For this I collaborated with acrobat Belle Hannah Kok. In this photo Belle tries to float on the asphalt. Gravity and floating go together."
Tara Fallaux (1972, NL) is a visual artist based in Amsterdam. An award-winning photographer and filmmaker, she explores the poetic and philosophical language inherent in multimedia technology. Tara has always alternated between photography and film.
Education: film and visual arts at the Dutch Film Academy and the Gerrit Rietveld Academy in Amsterdam, as well as at Carnegie Mellon University in the US. She was selected for residencies in China (C.E.A.C) and Japan (Atlantic Center for the Arts with Nan Goldin).
Her work has been shown internationally at festivals and museums, including Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam, Galerie Caroline O'Breen, Hot Docs Toronto, Rencontres d'Arles, IDFA, Fotofestival Naarden, Guernsey Photography Festival, Technical Sammlungen Museum Dresden, NYC Independent Film Festival, Lincoln Center for the Arts and the Melkweg Gallery. The National Portrait Studio and BIG ART Amsterdam.
