"I discovered that memories play tricks on us; they distort the specific elements of gender, location, and who was involved. I decided to create a fictional life, to rewrite my own memories, by playing with the concepts of time, space, and scale.
 
My ‘Changeling’ is about selective memory; it is a story with holes. A ‘memory hole,’ the inability to recall a specific word while it is on the tip of your tongue, is not just any hole; it has a certain size, a characteristic shape, and specific edges. Even if you don't find exactly what fits, you know immediately that something doesn't fit."

Pascale Hustings explores the interplay between time, place, memory, and scale within an imaginary world. Through photography, collage, and mixed media, she constructs layered compositions that merge memory and reality. The influence of the book format is palpable throughout her series, resulting in three highly acclaimed, self-published artist's books.
