Ode to Botticelli

2024

Giclée print on Hahnemühle FineArt Pearl paper.

Size 30x20 cm without white border.

In this contemporary, free-form adaptation, Venus is formed from image and nature. Her dress was created in Photoshop from a photograph of a scallop shell, a subtle reference to the shell she stands on in the original painting. Her hair is created with a photograph of seaweed from the Oosterschelde, giving the image a vibrant, organic feel. This visualization bridges the gap between art history and landscape, and between myth and matter.
