Lotte Lisa Ekkel (born 1988), a self-taught photographer, lives and works in Amsterdam.
Without a predetermined plan, she captures poetic and intuitive images using only natural light. She seeks tranquility and beauty in small, seemingly insignificant moments that often pass unnoticed.
The awareness of this constant transition is ever-present in Lotte's perspective on the world and forms the foundation from which she observes and works. Like life itself, our perception of the world evolves effortlessly. Just as images transform through shifts in light or one's perspective in the literal sense, our life experience similarly shifts with changes in our perspective in the figurative sense.
"I believe that our thoughts and perceived truths are much more dynamic at any given moment than we realize. Embracing this idea allows us to appreciate the relativity and beauty of each moment, to acknowledge its significance, without burdening ourselves with excessive seriousness, as everything is destined to evolve."
The carefully chosen moments in Lotte's work contain this ambiguity, as they reflect both the beauty and the mundanity of life, the stillness and the constant flow of change beneath it. By focusing on fleeting moments and sometimes small details, Lotte removes the noise and helps us see the beauty of everyday life.
