While filming a series in Mexico, I stumbled upon preparations for a bullfight in the outskirts of the capital. From that moment on, I followed this young torero to understand what it takes to enter the arena. What goes through his mind, and is there room for doubt?
Koen van Etten (born 1996) is a theater director and documentary photographer. In 2019, he graduated from the Directing program at the Amsterdam University of the Arts.
Koen explores human stories with a particular focus on rituals and the relationship between people and their environment. His work takes him to diverse locations around the world, from Indonesia and Central America to Ukraine.
