Eva Veldhoen (1979) is a photographer/artist. In her work she focuses mainly on still life photography with a documentary touch, through which she captures and celebrates everyday beauty. In small things that often go unnoticed, Eva finds the most beautiful details. By zooming in / leaving out unnecessary details, a pure form remains, through which she invites us to look at things in a new, open way. Eva: “it’s not necessary to reach.”
 
For the series ‘Wasted Beauty’, Eva created still lifes using plastic waste she collected from the streets in her neighborhood. Everyday we single-use tons of non-biodegradable packaging and other material. Part of it ends up on the street, inevitably finding its way to the beauty that is nature, harming it more than it is already affected. Once used, these packagings lose their purpose. Did they ever had value? Attention, time, energy and resources were once put into making them. For one-time use only. Waste happens on several levels.
