Eddy Posthuma de Boer (1931–2021) was one of the most important photographers in the Netherlands. His career began in 1948 as a photo assistant at the ANP. In the 1950s, he started making reportages. Posthuma de Boer always continued to work as an independent photographer. He worked for a wide range of clients, including Het Parool, de Volkskrant, Time-Life, KRO-Studio, Avenue, Holland Herald, and Sabena-Revue. In addition, he produced a great deal of personal work. Posthuma de Boer became particularly well-known for his ability to capture everyday life, both in the Netherlands and far beyond, in an unobtrusive manner. Furthermore, his portraits of artists stand out: photographs of writers, painters, and musicians, including Nescio, Reve, Mulisch, Willem de Kooning, The Beatles, and hundreds of others.
