Eddy Posthuma de Boer (1931–2021) was one of the most important photographers in the Netherlands. His career started in 1948 as a photo assistant at the ANP. In the 1950s he started making reports. Posthuma de Boer always continued to work as an independent photographer. He worked for an extensive number of clients, including Het Parool, de Volkskrant, Time-Life, KRO-Studio, Avenue, Holland Herald and Sabena-Revue. He also produced a lot of free work. Posthuma de Boer was best known for his ability to capture everyday life, both in the Netherlands and far beyond, in a non-emphatic way. His portraits of artists also stand out: photos of writers, painters and musicians, including Nescio, Reve, Mulisch, Willem de Kooning, The Beatles and hundreds of others.

Work by Posthuma de Boer can be found in the Photo Museum The Hague and in the Rijksmuseum.
