Dora Lionstone is a visual artist and photographer who graduated from the Gerrit Rietveld Academy in 2020 with a BA in Photography and previously worked as a Software Engineer in Germany with an Msc in Media Informatics. Her work has been exhibited internationally and published at FOAM and MIYOTA PHOTO. She is a FRESH EYES Talent 2021, Runner-Up of the OD Photo Prize 2022 and recipient of the Mondriaan Artist Start Grant in 2021. She is co-founder of SPROUT PUBLISH and based in Amsterdam, NL.
Influenced by her background in software engineering, Dora Lionstone sees the image as a system that can be cracked, taken apart and put back together in different ways. This ongoing (re)construction of reality is often explored through the artist's use of collages and other image transformations. By using multiple methods and points of view, she aims to push the boundaries of the rigid binary world, bringing together fact and fiction, science and art.
