Chantal Heijnen is a Dutch photographer and visual storyteller, based in New York since 2008. Central to her work are the relationship between people and their environment, identity, and connectedness. With an empathetic and observant gaze, she creates intimate portraits and documentary work. Her work has been published in The New York Times, The Washington Post, STAT News, and Volkskrant Magazine, among others, and exhibited at the Museum of the City of New York, Bronx Documentary Center, and Photoville.
