'Aisha Zeijpveld is an Amsterdam-based photographer with an exciting portfolio of conceptual portraits. A balance between naked reality and strange surrealism dominates her work, with backgrounds of dimmed color blocks and interrupted and edited subjects. We love the artist's use of watery layers that subvert conventional posed shots, and the crumpled canvas textures that suggest a multiple printing and recording process. Liquid, melting backgrounds and photographic trickery create the illusion of morphing bodies.'
